Description
This building is a barn and stables located about 15 meters west-northwest of Smith End Farm House, dating from the late 17th century or 18th century. It features a timber frame set on a brick base and is weatherboarded, with a corrugated sheet roof that rounds over the ridge. The structure consists of three bays and has central double doors, with short lean-to outshuts on either side. Inside, there are jowled posts with arched braces supporting the tie beams, angled struts connecting to collars that clasp the purlins, and tension braces that support the studding in the walls. Attached to both ends are low stable ranges with tiled roofs, each shaped like an L and returning to enclose a yard.
