Description
The granary at Redcoat Farm, located 20 metres east of the farm building courtyard in Little Wymondley, dates from the early 18th century, with 19th-century alterations and lean-to extensions on the north and south sides. It features a timber frame with dark elm weatherboarding, raised on high sidewalls made of 18-inch thick 18th-century red brick. The roof is pyramidal and covered with old red tiles. The front has been infilled with 19th-century red brick, which includes a doorway leading to the space below the granary. There are timber-framed weatherboarded lean-to extensions on one side with an old red tile roof, while the other side has a corrugated iron roof. The granary is small and square, with a central boarded door on the west side, a cathole, and evidence of a former outside stair.
