Description
This small barn at Redcoats Farm dates from the 17th century. It features a timber frame resting on a red brick sill, with the frame exposed at the rear and sandy red brick infill, while dark weatherboarding covers the other sides. The barn has a steeply pitched roof that is now covered with corrugated iron. It consists of three bays and faces west, with double doors located in the middle bay and a rear outshut in the same bay. There is also a lean-to extension at the north end. The structure includes jowled posts, straight tension braces, and a single purlin on each roofslope, which are clasped by inclined straight queen-posts. The barn is included for its group value.
