Description
No. 14 High Street is an 18th-century building that has undergone some refacing and alterations. It features plum-colored brick and an old tiled roof with a wooden cornice decorated with modillions, as well as two gabled casement dormers. The building is two storeys tall with attics, a plinth, and a first-floor band.
On the first floor, there are five windows, of which two are dummy, and the remaining five are leaded casements with wooden mullions and transoms. The ground floor has sash windows with glazing bars, and all windows are set in shallow reveals beneath flat arches. The central door consists of eight fielded panels framed by an architrave and topped with a traceried fanlight.
This building is part of a group that includes several other council buildings on High Street, contributing to the historical character of the area.
