Description
The Commons is a house dating from the 17th century, featuring a timber frame and possibly an earlier core located behind a cross wing on the south side. The house has red brick infill and includes a timbered and plastered extension added around 1970 on the north side. It has plain and machine tile roofs and stands two storeys high with attics. The cross wing is two bays wide and has two pairs of exposed purlins and two glazing bar casements. There is a smaller range behind the cross wing that is one storey high with attics. A large red brick chimney stack is located at the junction of the two sections, featuring two square shafts and a plastered gable attached on the north side with casement dormers. An 18th-century extension to the east has brick and plaster infill along with a weatherboarded gable end.
