Description
Stoneheaps is a house that was formerly a farmhouse, dating from the early 17th century. It features a front range with a short cross wing added to the eastern side in the later 17th century. The building has a timber frame, with a ground floor made of red brick from the 18th to 19th centuries, and the upper floor is plastered. It has a plain tile roof and underwent extensive restoration in the late 1920s.
The south elevation has three slightly projecting bays, each with gables that jet out on carved consoles, showcasing original moulded bargeboards and bressumers. The left two gables feature two rows of dentils, while the right gable has a dentilled bressumer. The upper floor windows are four-light with original moulded mullions, and there is a five-light window above a modern door. The end elevations have weatherboarded gables that jet out on single carved consoles, with two-light mullioned windows beneath them. The rear elevation has restored two-light casements. The rear wing displays exposed framing, brick infill, and a clasped purlin roof.
