Description
The Bull Hotel is a late 18th century or early 19th century building located on the east side of High Street. It features a front made of gault brick with a channelled ground floor. The roof is tiled and has an eaves cornice. The building is two storeys high and has six sash windows with glazing bars, which are set under flat arches made of cut bricks. However, two of the ground floor windows on the left have been altered to lattice casements. The left central entrance consists of a six-panel two-fold door, which is framed by an architrave surround in a double reveal, and has a segmentally arched outer arch made of channelled bricks. The rear elevation is constructed of red brick and includes a central Venetian window. Parts of the structure are believed to date back to the 16th century. This site has been an inn since 1540, and it served as a location for petty sessions until 1850.
