Description

The barns, located approximately 30 metres north of South Medburn Farm House, date to the 17th and 18th centuries. They are timber-framed structures with painted brick walls and weatherboard cladding, set beneath tiled roofs. The two barns each comprise five bays. The barn closer to the farmhouse has double doors with strap hinges in the centre, facing the house. A gabled extension is visible on the right bay towards the house, with a brick addition to the rear. Inside, angled queen struts clasp the purlins, along with straight braces and tie beams. Attached to the north-east side is a second, earlier barn with four brick bays on the right side, now roofed with corrugated sheeting. Later windows and doors have been added. The interior of this barn features queen struts to the collars clasping the purlins, and arched braces.
