Description

Wyllyotts Manor is a house and attached barn, now functioning as a restaurant. The barn dates from the late 16th century and may have been built for Robert Taylor between 1594 and 1603, while the house was constructed around 1800. Both structures underwent significant restoration in 1925.

The manor features an exposed timber frame with early 20th-century brick nogging and has tiled hipped roofs. It is a small, double-pile, two-storey house with six bays and a three-window front. The windows are timber casements with leaded lights, some of which have mullions. The central entrance is located in a ground floor lean-to extension with a pantiled roof. The house displays thin studding with some straight braces, and the right side has a two-storey bow with ground floor French windows and first floor sash windows. There are stacks at the rear of the main ridge and a rendered 19th-century extension at the back. A link block to the barn on the left features machine tiles extending down to low eaves.

The barn consists of four bays, with the original fifth bay incorporated into the link; it was likely aisled originally. It has scattered leaded casements and an entrance on the right, along with two stepped brick buttresses and similarly exposed studding. The barn's hipped roof features gablets, a right end stack, and a weatherboarded lean-to on the left. There are 20th-century extensions to the rear that are not of special interest.

Inside the house, there are re-used timbers, while the barn contains jowled posts with curved braces supporting cambered tie beams, curved queen struts, and collar beams. The barn has been partially floored over since the late 17th century, and a fireplace has been inserted.
