Description

Barns, stables, coach house, Old Rectory Cottage, and former cowshed at The Old Rectory are a collection of buildings dating from the 16th century, with modifications made in the early and late 19th centuries. The structures feature a combination of plastered timber frame and red brick, with a lower shed on the south side that is plaster and weatherboarded. The roofs are covered with red tiles. The buildings are two storeys high, with a symmetrical front added in the late 19th century that includes a bracketed, tile-roof door hood flanked by tiled oriel windows on the ground floor. The first floor has 3- and 4-light casement windows with glazing bars. The remainder of the range is an 18th-century conversion of a 16th-century barn into stables, which includes three loose boxes, a tack room, and two coach houses, featuring a red brick ground floor on the east side and a wooden floor band. The south gable displays exposed timber framing. The single-storey cowshed on the south side is weatherboarded on the east and has double doors with ventilation for animals beneath the eaves.
