Description
The Hoops is a house dating from the late 17th century, possibly raised in height in the early 19th century. It features a timber frame resting on a stucco sill, with a roughcast exterior. The steep roof is now covered with slate and has box eaves and a flat soffit. This long, two-storey house faces south and has a three-cell, lobby-entry layout with a central chimney. There is an angled extension to the east and a long single-storey extension at the left, which is also slated and roughcast. The front of the house displays irregular window arrangements, including three flush box-sashed upper windows with 8/8 panes, two similar ground floor windows, and a two-light casement window with small panes. There are two plank doors with small hoods, which have been renewed. This building was formerly a public house and is described as a picturesque riverside structure.
