Description
The brewhouse and attached garden wall at Ford House, located 8 metres northwest of the house, date from the 18th century or earlier. The red brick wall, which extends south for about 85 metres, was partially rebuilt in the 19th century. The single-storey brewhouse, which is attached to the northern end of the wall and faces east, features red brick walls on the west, north, and east sides, while the south side is timber-framed and plastered. It has a three-light window and a plank door on the east face, topped by a steep red tiled gabled roof. Inside, the north gable has a chimney, and the interior is lofty and open to the roof, featuring a fireplace with a copper. The long red brick wall that fronts the street displays old, irregularly bonded brickwork with a chamfered plinth that steps up at piers for wide and narrow gateways beside the house. These gateways are now blocked, with a small gateway next to the south pier of the larger opening.
