Description
These are two connected barns located about 30 meters east-southeast of Bury Farm House. They date from the 17th century or early 18th century, with extensions added in the late 18th century or early 19th century. The barns are built with a timber frame on a brick base laid in English bond and are covered with weatherboarding. The roofs are tiled. Originally, the structure comprised five bays with a central gabled midstrey facing the yard. Four additional bays were added towards the house, featuring a larger gabled midstrey near the earlier barn. There are slate-roofed lean-tos on either side of the early midstrey, and 20th-century lean-tos to the left of the later midstrey. The gable end facing the house has a door with an upper two-light casement window. On the road side, there are two double doors opposite the midstreys, with vertical lights added. Inside, the barns feature arched braces from jowled posts to tie beams, angled struts (some of which are curved), and clasp purlins, along with later straight posts. Bury Farm House itself is not listed.
