Description
The Good Intent Public House dates from the early 19th century. It is a two-storey building with a cellar, constructed of yellow stock brick with a slate roof. A rear wing, dating back to the 18th century, is timber-framed and plastered, featuring flush sash windows and a red pantiled roof on the rear slope only. The building has a double pile plan with parallel slate roofs and a chimney centrally positioned on each ridge. Originally two windows wide, a nearly contemporary single-window extension was added to the west. The windows are six-over-six pane recessed sash windows set within cambered red brick arches and are fitted with louvred shutters. A round-arched doorway provides access to the lounge, featuring a four-panel door. A good, panelled wooden screen with pilasters, a dentil cornice, and glazing bars is located in the eastern part of the front façade. The public house is an unusually well-preserved example of a small 19th-century building of its type.
