Description
This is an early 19th-century lodge, now a house, originally the South Lodge to Terlings, a country house that has since been demolished. The building is constructed of red brick with grey brick dressings, and has a tile roof. It is a single-storey cottage ornee, arranged in a T-plan, with a prominent octagonal porch projection in the centre of the south front. The porch is supported by four branching tree trunks. The front has a three-centred arched doorway within the porch, fitted with battened doors. There is one window to each side, each topped with a segmental arch and small gable. A three-sided bay window, featuring cast iron diamond lattice and a steeply tiled polygonal roof, is set into the west wall. A gabled rear wing extends from the main body of the building. There are two tall red brick chimneys with spurred caps and moulded bases. An outbuilding, also of red brick and tile with twin bargeboarded gables and a chimney between, is linked to the lodge at the northwest corner.
