Description
25 Old Cross is a house that now functions as both a residence and a shop. It dates from the mid-18th century and has been altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of red brick, although the front is currently covered with stucco and painted. It features a steeply pitched roof that is now covered with Welsh slate, and there is a wooden modillion cornice along the eaves, with red brick chimneystacks on either side. The layout includes a central staircase.
The exterior has two storeys. On the first floor, there are three recessed 16-pane sash windows with concealed boxes, each set beneath shallow segmental arches. A plat band runs at the first-floor level. The ground floor features a single sash window on the right, a central recessed 19th-century door with four panels and a margin-glazed fanlight above, and a 20th-century multi-pane shop window on the left with a fascia board above. At the rear, there is a two-storey outshoot made of yellow brick, also with a Welsh slated roof. The interior has not been inspected.
