Description
The gates to the east site at McMullens Brewery, built around 1890 and reset in the early 20th century, consist of gates, a screen, and quadrant walls. They are made of cast iron and red brick laid in header bond, featuring Portland stone plinths and copings. The pair of gates has heavy cast-iron shafts topped with conical spearhead and bobbin finials, along with lighter lower intermediate shafts of the same design. The heavy cast-iron gate piers have four clustered shafts with roll moulded bases, square plinth blocks, moulded bands, cavetto and roll moulded caps, and ball and spike finials on pedestal bases. To the right, there is a cast-iron screen that mirrors the gate's details but lacks the intermediate lower shafts. The quadrant brick walls on either side have recessed panels and end in square brick piers along the road frontage.
