Description
The implement shed at Nine Ashes Farm, located 70 metres north-northwest of the house, dates from the early 19th century. It is a tall, timber-framed structure weatherboarded and built on a high red brick plinth. The shed features six bays and has an arcaded open side that faces into the yard, adjacent to the West Barn. It has a low-pitched slate roof supported by a well-crafted wide span queen post roof, with jowled queen posts and two purlins on each slope. The wall posts are unjowled and have curved braces leading to cambered tie beams. The front arcade plate is supported in the centre by a lower cambered cross-piece. This historic early 19th-century farm building remains in its original condition and is part of a picturesque group of farm buildings along the roadside, contributing to the significance of The Model Covered Homestead at Nine Ashes.
