Description
This is an early 19th-century house located in Hunsdon. It is built of brick, colourwashed to the front, with a plastered upper floor, and has a gabled red tiled roof. The house is designed to resemble a 17th-century farmhouse, facing east. A wide front jetty is supported by heavy carved corner brackets, incorporating a moulded wooden band and a plastered soffit. The windows are 2-light casements. A single-storey, square, roughcast porch with a flat roof features a moulded wooden cornice and half-glazed double doors. A single-storey canted bay window with French doors is located at the south end. Two tall internal red brick chimneys rise through the roof, topped with ornamental tile cresting. The symmetrical north gable has a moulded wooden band, a canted bay with a tiled roof, a 3-light window on the first floor, and a 2-light window in the gable apex. A two-storey flat-roofed brick rear extension features a trellis-sided open porch with a steep gabled tiled roof and cusped bargeboards. The house is largely unaltered and forms part of a picturesque group with nearby cottages.
