Description
The stable block and adjoining cottages at Moor Place date from the early to mid-18th century and are constructed of red brick in a U-shaped plan. The stable block features an old tile roof and a central wooden cupola. It stands two storeys high and has seven windows. The west elevation includes a central projecting coach entrance, which is topped with a modillioned pediment and a rubbed brick depressed arch set on moulded brick imposts. The ground floor sash windows are mostly filled in, while the nearly square first-floor windows are 3/3 sashes located on the north side and in the center. The octagonal cupola rests on a square base and has a clock on the east and west sides. It is adorned with fluted round columns, a modillion cornice, and a copper dome topped with a wrought iron weathervane. To the east, there is a plain courtyard that features a range of two cottages on the north and south sides of the stable range, which has large arched openings on the ground floor. This arrangement continues with another U-shaped range to the south, consisting of one to one-and-a-half storey red brick outbuildings and cottages.
