Description
The Pig and Whistle Public House is a house that dates from the later 17th century, with a lean-to rear extension added in the later 20th century. It features a timber frame that is roughcast, with a weatherboarded apron on the north front and tile-hung on the west end. The south side has exposed timber framing with red brick nogging from the 20th-century lean-to brewers' extensions. The building has steep old red tile roofs and is two stories tall, consisting of two cells with single-storey sections at each end along the roadside. Inside, there are exposed beams. The unchanged northern aspect of the building is an important traditional feature of the conservation area, and it is included for its group value.
