Description
Upwick Grange is a building with origins dating back to the 17th century or earlier, as indicated by a tablet in the rear range dated 1646. The structure was extended and significantly altered in 1896. It features part timber framing and plastered sections, with plastered brickwork and imitation close studded timbering at the upper floor level. The building stands two storeys high with three gables, one of which has projecting bay windows. It retains original late Victorian cast iron windows throughout. There are two central doorways, one of which is framed by a decorated timber door frame from the 16th or 17th century. A central gable chimney stack is present, and the return frontage to the east showcases three gables and three projecting bays at the lower level. A late addition at the rear is in keeping with the character of the front range.
