Description

Moathouse Farm House is a house with origins dating back to the 17th century, and possibly earlier, with extensions from the 18th century and a refronting in the mid-19th century. The core of the building is timber framed and cement rendered. The extension features a white brick front, with render and red brick on the returns, and red brick dressings. The roof is machine tiled.

The early range at the rear consists of three bays, with the left bay being shorter, cross-roofed, slightly lower, and possibly older. The 18th and 19th-century front range has three bays and two storeys. The 19th-century facade includes a central entrance with a glazed door and a semi-circular fanlight, framed by a round-headed surround with cushion capitals on tapering pilasters, all set within an outer gauged red brick round arch. The windows are single glazing bar sashes set in deep reveals with stone sills, and the ground floor features gauged brick flat arched heads. The house has a plinth and close eaves, with internal gable end stacks, the left stack being slightly extruded with offsets and rendered behind. The right end has small pane single light casements with slightly cambered heads.

The early range has a steeper roof pitch and an early red brick multiform central ridge stack. The right end has a 19th-century red brick casing with small sashes featuring cambered heads. The cross-roofed bay to the rear left has an exposed jowled post. There is also a 19th-century red brick dairy with a stack attached to the rear left. The interior has not been inspected, and the house is part of a moated site.
