Description
30 and 32 Knight Street is a late 17th century building, with the southern part being slightly lower and possibly dating from a later period. The front is made of brick and pebbledash, while the rest features timber framing and weatherboarding on the ground floor, with a plastered first floor. It has a steep hipped roof covered with old tiles, with the southern wing having a lower gabled roof. There is a wooden eaves cornice and a central chimney stack, along with an internal gable stack in the southern part. The building has three windows, which are flush 19th century sashes with six panes each. There are two 19th century, six-panel flush doors that have heavy frames, architraves, and flat moulded hoods supported by slender shaped brackets. At the rear, there is a wing for No 30. The former lobby entrance is located opposite the central chimney and features cased axial beams. The interior facing the street has an 18th century design, including a fire surround with an eared architrave and an unusual carved frieze. This building is part of an architectural group on the west side of the street.
