Description
The pump and pumphouse, located in the Market Place 40 meters to the north-north-west of St Peter's Church, dates from the 18th or 19th century for the pump, while the pumphouse was built in 1897. The inscription on the pumphouse states, "SET UP BY/F J ROBINSON ESQRE/1897 TO COMMEMORATE/THE 60th YEAR OF THE/GLORIOUS REIGN OF/QUEEN/VICTORIA."
The structure features a wooden pump pillar made of oak, which is about one and a half meters high and encloses the pump barrel, with part of the crank mechanism still visible. The hexagonal pumphouse is supported by angled oak posts with braces connecting to the wallplate. It has a pointed hexagonal shingled roof that is designed in two stages. The inscription is carved in relief on all four sides of the pumphouse, and a wooden finial extends down, forming radial rafters.
