Description

The dovecote at Hormead Hall is a 17th-century structure built with a timber frame and dark weatherboarding. It features a steep hipped roof covered in old red tiles, with gablets that include openings for doves. This small square building has a tall roof and a door that faces north. The entrance is a plank door, and there is a 2-light casement window. The dovecote has a post at each corner and in the middle of each wall, with a mid-height rail that is tenoned in-line. There are also rows of empty peg-holes that were used for fixing nest boxes.
