Description

This is a lifesize statue of the Duke of Wellington, made of Coade stone, located in the grounds of Flint House, 60 metres east-north-east of the house. The statue dates from the early 19th century and depicts the Duke seated, wearing a cloak and decorations, with a scroll in his right hand resting on his knee. The head of the statue is damaged. It was likely placed here by W C Mylne, the builder of Flint House, who also designed the gardens between 1842 and 1844.
