Description

Mylnefield is an early 19th century house, likely designed by Robert Mylne as a farmhouse on his own land, with a later 20th century extension. The house is constructed of grey brick, featuring a hipped slate roof and overhanging eaves with wide plastered soffits. Originally symmetrical with a three-window front facing east, the central upper sash window illuminates the stair hall, which has a flat, gauged arch and 8/8 pane sashes. Triple sash windows with crown glass extend to the eaves soffit on each side. Canted bay windows are present on the ground floor, each with a hipped slate roof, moulded cornices, and sash windows extending down to floor level. A later 19th century square stucco porch has a 6-panel door, radial fanlight in an arched head rising into an open pediment supported by fluted pilasters; rectangular side windows feature moulded panels below. A north extension, one bay wide, contains triple sash windows on each floor.
