Description

No 33 High Street is a house dating from the 16th century or early 17th century, with a brick front added in the 19th century. It features a timber frame on a stucco plinth, roughcast on the rear and north end, and weatherboarding on the south end and rear wing. The house has steep old red tile roofs and is built in a T-plan with two storeys and attics, a central chimney, and a lobby entry facing west. There is an original outshut at the northeast and a later two-storey rear extension.

The west front is irregularly three windows wide, with recessed sash windows on the first floor featuring 6/6 panes and segmental arches. The door, aligned with the stack, has similar arches and is accompanied by wider sash windows to the right with 8/8 panes. The entrance features a six-panel moulded door with lower flush beaded panels and a moulded surround in a recess. There is an elegant shopfront with a half-glazed panelled door flanked by canted bays, all connected by a moulded cornice and flat hood.

The rear slope of the roof has two gabled dormers, and a projecting gabled rear wing behind the stack likely houses the stairs. The large central chimney has two square shafts set diagonally on a moulded rectangular base across the ridge. The roof structure is side-purlin, with a bellcast front and projecting eaves featuring a boarded soffit. There is a flush box sash window on the south gable, and a lean-to weatherboarded south extension with a four-panel flush beaded door and large divided shop windows.
