Description
The dovecote at Manor Farm, located 30 meters south of the house, dates from around 1700. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, featuring dark headers and fine gauged red brick dressings. The structure has a steep octagonal roof topped with a cupola and an ovoid finial. This tall octagonal tower overlooks a pond and has entrances on the north side leading to the granary below and on the northwest side leading to the upper dovecote. The ornamentation is primarily found on the east, southeast, and south faces. It has a high plinth with semi-circular arched openings for ventilation below the granary floor, and corresponding oval openings in a deep platband that are now blocked. There are segmental arches above plank doors at two levels. Inside, the upper chamber features brick nest boxes and shelves around the walls, with a heavy timber floor above the granary. The roof is supported by purlins and large tie-beams, and there is an octagonal oculus in the cupola.
