Description
Yonder Cottage is a 17th-century building that was originally a byre or barn and has since been converted into a house. In the 18th century, it was floored and transformed into three separate homes. The structure features a timber frame that is infilled with red brick and is topped with a steep old red tile roof.
The cottage is a long range of one and a half storeys that faces south and is attached to a taller block to the west. The front of the building includes three small gabled dormers with leaded casements situated at the eaves, along with three 3-light 18th-century leaded casements. There is also a plank door at the west end, which has a small window above it. The ends of the joists from the inserted floor are supported on horizontal timbers at varying heights. To the west of the two ground floor windows, there is a blocked doorway.
The east gable showcases an exposed frame with jowled posts, straight braces leading to an irregular tie-beam, and a collar that clasps the purlins. It features a 3-light window on both the ground and first floors. Yonder Cottage is likely an addition to the older house located to the west.
