Description
Westfield House is a house built in 1815. It is constructed of dark red brick with lighter red quoins and arches, topped with a hipped slate roof. This large, attractive, symmetrical house has two storeys and is three windows wide, set back from the street and facing west. The tall sash windows are recessed and feature 2/2 panes with margin lights, topped by bright red flat gauged arches. The central entrance has a white painted Doric doorcase with three-quarter columns that are oval in shape, supporting a full entablature. The door itself is a moulded two-panel design with panelled reveals and margin lights leading to a fanlight above. The house features flush stepped quoins at the corners and has a double-pile plan. There is a central wallhead chimney at the southern end and a mid-wall chimney in the northern part. Additionally, there is a two-storey flat-roofed extension set back at the northern end.
