Description
Groves Orchard is a house dating from the late 17th century, with a brick casing on the ground floor and tile-hanging from the 18th century. There is a rear extension added around 1980. The house features a timber frame with red brick casing at the ground level, painted brick infill at the rear, and red tile-hanging on the front and west end. It has a steep old red tile roof and is a small, two-bay, one-and-a-half storey structure facing south, with a large single-storey rear extension. The front includes small gabled dormers at the eaves, two 2-light flush casement windows, and a former entrance with a central door. An external chimney is located on the west gable. The timber frame shows wide-spaced studs on the east side, with a collar truss supporting a clasped purlin roof. The north side has similar framing, featuring a full-height corner post. Inside, there are unjowled posts, scratch-moulded panelling, and two-panel doors with H-hinges.
