Description
The Folly is a house dating from the late 17th century, with a 19th-century brick front and a rear lean-to that has been divided into two houses, with a southern bay added in the 20th century. The structure features a timber frame on a stuccoed sill, is roughcast with a red brick front, and has a steep old red tile roof, along with a slated two-storey part rear lean-to. The house has a two-cells, two-storey and attic layout, with end chimneys, and it faces east, including a matching added southern part. Its plot likely encroached on the common land.
There is a large external chimney on the northern gable with one flue and an enlarged base. Before the southern extension, the front was symmetrical, featuring a flush casement three-light window on each side of the porch on both floors. The entrance consists of twin two-panel flush doors set within a single ornate lean-to tiled porch that has brackets and glazed arcading. An early 20th-century rectangular wooden bay window has been inserted to the right of the porch. The attic has casement windows, and there are small windows in the northern gable end facing the common.
