Description

The building at Shootersway Farm is a farmhouse that has been converted into a private house, with an attached implement shed to the north. The farmhouse dates back to the 16th century, while the southern bay and the implement shed were added in the early 19th century. The implement shed features a timber frame on a brick sill, with dark weatherboarding and a steep old red tile roof. It is eight bays long, with four bays open to the west side. The structure has unjowled posts and straight braces supporting the tie beams of a clasped-purlin collar-and-queen-strut single purlin roof.

The house itself has a timber frame set on a painted brick sill, with the ground floor cased in painted brick. The first floor features painted brick infill to the exposed frame, and there is a gabled brick front on the eastern side of the southern bay. The roof is also steep and covered with old red tiles. The house is two storeys tall and follows a hall and cross-passage plan, with a large unheated room to the north beyond the cross-passage. The internal chimney and stair are located in the same narrow central bay as the cross-passage.

The western side of the house has irregular fenestration, with five flush small-paned windows on each floor. The frame outlines two wide bays, with a narrow chimney and entrance bay situated between two-light casement windows, although there are also two Yorkshire sliding casements. The eastern side is similar, featuring two upper windows, three ground floor windows, and a front door. The roof has jowled posts supporting a clasped-purlin collar truss. There is no indication of the original purpose of the northern room.
