Description
Binghams Park is a house dating from the early 17th century, which was altered into two cottages in the 19th century, with additional changes made in the 20th century. The older part of the house is timber-framed, while the newer sections are made of red brick and are all plastered on the outside. The northern part of the house has been weatherboarded in the 20th century. It features steeply pitched roofs that are now covered with slate.
The building is irregular in shape, with one and a half stories, oriented north to south, consisting of two cells and an internal chimney. It was originally designed as a lobby-entry house, with a short gabled kitchen wing projecting east from the southern part of the house. There are two-storey gabled additions to the southwest and north, along with a lean-to entrance and stair extension on the east side.
The exterior is picturesque, showcasing multiple gables, gabled dormers, large external chimneys, and casement windows. The entrance features a round-headed oak door. Inside, the house retains exposed timbers from the wall frame, a clasped-purlin roof with straight wind braces, and a squint-butted scarf joint in the wallplate. The main room north of the chimney stack has axial chamfered floor beams with bar-stops, while the kitchen wing features scroll-stops. There are also some early 18th-century two-panel doors with H-hinges.
