Description
This is a pair of houses, originally possibly four cottages, dating from the early 18th century, with a west extension added in the mid-19th century. The construction is timber frame with red brick infill, and a brick extension to the north. The building has steep roofs covered in old red tiles. The main north-facing block is two storeys and four bays, with integral outshuts at the rear topped by four gables, and a single-storey west extension. The front of the building has four windows on each floor. The windows are flush, two-light, leaded casements. There are three plank doors in heavy frames, each situated beside a ground-floor window and covered by a 19th-century gabled hood supported by curved brackets. The west extension has a chamfered heavy frame to the plank door and a similar chamfered frame to a single-light window on the left. A long, four-light window of a similar design is located under a relieving arch on the west gable, with a circular window above. Four windows are present in the rear gables, along with trellis gabled rear porches and two-light and three-light lattice casement windows. The timber frame features unjowled posts and long, straight tension braces to the upper part of the front wall, with run-out stops to stop-chamfered spine beams.
