Description

A block of two estate houses located on Park Street in Tring, built in the 1880s for the Rothschild Estate, likely designed by William Huckvale, and similar in design to numbers 21 and 22. The houses are constructed of plum brick, with the first floor rendered to simulate half-timbering. They feature scalloped red tile hanging, a jettied first floor to a porch, and a steep roof of machine-made red tiles. The main block is a picturesque 1½ storeys facing north, with a central, projecting two-storey porch open at the base. A recessed eastern wing (number 26) is painted. The windows are casement windows with three or two lights, divided with glazing bars. Details include a plinth, moulded floor band, and segmental arches over the ground floor windows. A large, projecting gable chimney is also present.
