Description

The gateway at Icehouse Lodge is a Grade II listed structure located on the southern boundary wall of Audley End Park. Built in the mid-19th century, it features red brick with stone dressings in a Tudor style. The gateway has a four-centred arched head and double shouldered buttresses on each side. The stone coping rises over the gate arch in two steps. It includes plain two-leaved iron gates, with a subsidiary wicket gate on the western side. The brickwork at the rear of the arch shoulders is similar to the rest of the boundary wall, indicating that this gateway is a rebuild of one that was contemporary with the early 17th-century wall.
