S boundary wall to Audley End Park stretching along Audley End Road for 1120m from Lion Lodge (qv) to the edge of Saffron Walden. Early C17. Red brick with some yellow bricks, mainly English bond with some patches of garden wall bond. Inner face has a stretch of flint facing at W end. Height variable as it climbs the hill to the E. Plinth offset along the wall steps up to accommodate the hill but not always in phase with lifts at wall head. Central section up to approx 5.5m high but tapers down at E end and is stepped down at W. W end has brick-built, shaped coping with diagonal dentils, E end plain. 3 gateways and one doorway through, W-E, at 160m, original doorway 4-centred arched head, door oak, framed and boarded, studded, at 340m, original gateway 4m wide with octagonal piers, gateway now blocked with similar bricks (straight joint clear), upper stage of piers now missing, at 655m, gateway at Icehouse Lodge (qv), at 820m, C19 gateway in yellow brick, stretch of yellow brick walling each side 20m long, plain piers to gate and also to end of wall extensions, pair of wooden doors.
