Description

This is an early 19th-century house on the west side of the Chelmsford Road, Great Dunmow. It is built of rendered brick and has a square plan with a slate hipped roof of a central well form, featuring wide overhanging eaves. The south-facing elevation has three double-hung sash windows with segmental heads and small panes on the first floor. The ground floor has two similar windows and a projecting, flat-topped porch with Doric columns. The original six-panel door is set within the porch, with margin glazing and a barred fanlight above. The ground floor is raised above a partially submerged basement, accessed by a flight of steps leading to the porch. The east elevation features similar windows and two segmental-headed dormers with sash windows. A substantial brick stack is also present.
