Description

Number 49 Gates to former Elm Grove are entrance gates dating from around 1835, with 20th-century piers. The gates are made of wrought iron and stand approximately 2.5 meters high, hung on open iron piers that are about 3 meters high. These gates are flanked by single pedestrian gates, each approximately 1.7 meters high, which are hung on 20th-century brick walls. Each main gate features three rows of three panels topped by a single full-width panel with scrolled cresting and two rails, and each panel is decorated with scrolls and leaves. The pedestrian gates also have five panels with a similar design. The piers display simplified motifs that echo the design of the gates. Elm Grove was demolished around 1975.
