Description
This is a barn dating from the mid-16th century, constructed with a timber frame and covered in black weatherboarding. The roof is half hipped and finished with peg tiles, featuring a gabled midstrey at the center of the west side. The barn consists of five bays, with aisles on both sides. It has jowled main posts and aisle posts, along with short braces connecting the aisle ties to the main posts. The roof structure includes heavy queen posts, clasped purlins, and arched windbracing in each bay. The contemporary midstrey displays ornamental front jowls. The scarf joints in the construction are halved and bridled. This barn was relocated from Writtle, Essex.
