Description
Mawbyns is a house dating from the 16th century, with alterations made in the 17th, 19th, and 20th centuries. It features a timber frame and plastered exterior, topped with a red plain tile roof. The building has two storeys and an L-shaped plan, with a later wing added to the rear. The front facade has three windows, which include 19th-century casements and sashes. The central entrance door is framed by a rusticated surround and has a keystone above it. The right side of the front breaks back, and there are two-storey bay windows that have gabled roofs made of red plain tiles, adorned with pierced bargeboards and pendants. An original red brick chimney stack has been rebuilt at the top. The house also features roundels that display the Maynard crest.
