Description
Helmans is a late 16th century house that was extended in the 20th century. It features a timber frame that is plastered, and has a thatched roof. The building consists of three bays and has an axial chimney stack located at the northwest end of the middle bay. There is a 20th century extension to the north. The house is a single storey with attics and has half-hipped ends. It includes three pairs of 20th century Gothick windows with arched heads and a 20th century door, with no windows on the upper floor. The timber frame is exposed internally in the two southwest bays, showcasing curved tension bracing that is trenched to the inside of the studs, along with jowled storey posts. The ceiling beams are stop-chamfered, and the roof is supported by collar rafters.
