Description

Barnston Hall's large barn, located 45 meters to the northwest of the house, dates from the late 16th century to early 17th century. It is constructed with a timber frame and is weatherboarded, featuring a half hipped roof clad in asbestos. The barn was built in two phases; the earlier phase includes arch braced tie beams, while the later phase has hanging knees. It consists of nine bays and has three gabled midstreys. The roof structure includes halved and bladed top plate scarfs and a lodged side purlin roof.
