Description
The Old Rectory is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th century, particularly to the south front and east end. It has a plain red tile roof with an apse end to the right. The house is two storeys and has attics. It is timber-framed and plastered. The ground floor has a three-window range, while the first floor has a four-window range of fine double-hung, three-light sashes with small panes of glass. Smaller paned sashes are found at the apse end and on the first floor to the left. A glazed, semi-circular porch features pointed arched heads and a flat canopy. There are two off-centre square red brick chimney stacks. A lean-to extension to the left is said to contain panelling from the 16th and 17th centuries, as well as 17th-century woodwork in the staircase. The building is picturesque and sits in a pleasant setting.
