Description
Warren House is a warrener's cottage built in the mid-18th century, with modifications made in the later 19th century. The cottage is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, while the external chimneystack is made in English bond. It features a tiled roof with a large external brick chimneystack on the left and a later 19th-century corbelled brick stack on the right. The house has three bays and a central stair turret that projects to the rear, which is now flanked by later 19th-century outshuts. It stands two storeys tall and has three windows. The windows are 19th-century horizontally sliding sashes with shutters, set in original openings that are cambered on the ground floor. There is a brick plinth, and the central doorcase includes a semi-circular fanlight above a 20th-century plank door. The external chimneystack features English bond brickwork with diaper patterns of black brick. The gabled staircase turret at the rear adds to the building's character. Warren House is an 18th-century example of an unusual building type.
