Description
Crabs Green Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from around 1600 or earlier. It is constructed with a timber frame and plastered exterior, topped with gabled peg tile roofs. The building has a 'T' plan layout, featuring a crosswing at the southeast end and a similarly sized 'display' gable that balances the south front. A very large brick chimney is located on the southeast side, with asymmetrical offsets, some of which are clad in tile, and there is a lean-to in the corner. The rear has lean-to extensions. The windows are 20th-century casements with small panes, and the south entrance door has a 19th-century surround with a flat hood supported by shaped brackets. Additionally, a tall chimney rises against the northwest gable. Inside, the substantial frame of the building is partly exposed.
