Description

This is an aisled barn dating from the late 16th century, located approximately 70 metres north-northwest of Friars Grange Farmhouse. The barn is timber-framed with weatherboarded walls and a roof covered in corrugated iron. It has five bays, a midstrey, and two aisles, creating a rectangular layout. Notable architectural features include jowled arcade posts, cambered tiebeams, arched bracing to the tiebeams, and curved bracing (some reversed) to the arcade plates. The wallplates and arcade plates are original, although the aisle walls have been rebuilt below the plates, incorporating primary straight bracing. The roof has also been rebuilt above the tiebeam level.
